O P T I C S and its applications

In 5-9 of September an International Symposium on Optics and Its Application took place in Armenia. This was a unique event, which had a goal to gather Scientific and industrial centers of Armenia, working in the field of Optics in one place.
The organizers of this event were SPIE YSU and NAS student chapter, Institute for Physical Research of NAS RA, Russian-Armenian University, LT PYRKAL CJSC and Faculty of Physics of Yerevan State University.
The symposium was dedicated to the 5-th anniversary of SPIE YSU and NAS student chapter activity, It created a great opportunity for participants to acquaint with progress of science and the successes of Armenian optical industry. The talks were held in the mentioned centers and were accompanied with lab tours, and in the last day of symposium an exhibition of optical production of Armenian companies was organized.
More than 150 scientists from 15 countries of the world attended the conference.
The scientific works represented during a conference will be published in the world famous Journal of Physics: Conference Series scientific journal, which is a great opportunity for scientists to inform about their research their colleagues.
The directors of the symposium were Director of IPR of NAS Prof. Aram Papoyan and the president of ICO Maria Luisa Calvo, and the organizers were young scientists from IPR and YSU Narine Gevorgyan, Tigran Dadalyan, Artsrun MArtirosyan, Paytsar Mantashyan and Karen Vardanyan. Prof. Katarina Svanberg the president of SPIE also held speech during symposium.
For support and Help during organization of the Sympozium, the organizers are expressing their gratitudes to the director of LT PYRKAL mr. Gagik Buniatyan, dean of faculty of Physics and Technique of RAU Prof. Hayk Sargsyan and the director of IPR Prof. Aram Papoyan.
In the welcome speech Prof Maria Calvo have announced that during an ICO jury meeting Armenia was elected as a member of ICO, which opens new opportunities and prospective for professionals.
During the Symposium was announced also that Prof. Maria Calvo was accepted as a honorable doctor of RAU.
For encouraging young scientists scientific work SPIE YSU and NAS chapter has funded a proze in the nomination of “BEST STUDENT CONTRIBUTION” for theoretical and experimental works. The winners were chosen by the members of Program committee.
