Шнобелевская премия

Название Ig Nobel Prize представляет собой игру слов. На английском языке Нобелевская премия называется Nobel Prize, схожее со словом «noble» прилагательное «ignoble» означает «позорный». На русский язык название премии чаще всего переводится как «Антинобелевская премия», «Игнобелевская премия» или «Шнобелевская премия». Шнобель - большой, красивый нос.

Шнобелевские премии (англ. Ig Nobel Prize) — пародия на престижную международную награду — Нобелевскую премию. Десять Шнобелевских премий вручаются в начале октября, перед тем, когда называются лауреаты настоящей Нобелевской премии.

Премии вручаются за достижения, которые заставляют сначала засмеяться, а потом — задуматься (first make people laugh, and then make them think). Премия учреждена Марком Абрахамсом и юмористическим журналом «Анналы невероятных исследований».

Шнобелевским лауреатам вручают премию, которая может быть выполнена, например, в виде медали из фольги или в виде клацающих челюстей на подставке, а также сертификат, удостоверяющий получение премии и подписанный тремя лауреатами Нобелевской премии.

Шнобелевские премии присуждаются с 1991 года — за достижения, которые невозможно воспроизвести или же нет смысла это делать. Сегодня Шнобелевскую премию вручают в Гарварде накануне вручения Нобелевской премии. Награду лауреатам вручают настоящие нобелевские лауреаты.

The Conference “Micro- to Nano-Photonics III- ROMOPTO 2012″ is an international scientific event dedicated to optics and lasers, held in Romania.

The purpose of this Conference is to provide a good opportunity for experts working in optics and lasers to share experience, to discuss the latest results, to stimulate interdisciplinary exchanges and to consider the prospects of applications.

The Conference will also provide the opportunity for round table discussions on special cross disciplinary issues.

The International School on Quantum Electronics “Laser Physics and Applications” is a traditional event, organized biennially by the Institute of Electronics since 1976, which includes in its topics investigations of the basic physical phenomena, processes of interaction of laser radiation with different materials and new scientific results obtained in the research areas of quantum electronics and optics, as well as the technological practical applications of new ideas, devices, instruments and laser systems. Leading scientists are invited to deliver lectures on the fundamentals of laser physics and applications of lasers as well as the newest results in these research areas.

The topics include the following:

• Laser - matter interactions
• Laser spectroscopy and metrology
• Laser remote sensing and ecology
• Lasers in biology and medicine
• Laser systems and nonlinear optics

Another interesting initiative of our chapter is Annual school on optics. This year hopefully we will give start to a good tradition, which will help students and schoolchildren in better understanding of Optics and Photonics. First event is devoted to Lasers. in collaboration with Student Scientific Society of Faculty of Physics of YSU we will have several short lectures on Laser development history, basics and applications and also our professors will share their experimental experience on working with lasers, and participants will be able to take part in Laser resonator adjustment, in optics lab. The rest days of the conference new trends in OLC and successes were reported. The social event of the conference included excursion to museums in Yerevan and visit to Garni and Geghard.
